The Mariners had 18 points from Troy Bethell and 16 from Andrew Brown, but their offense could not keep pace with the Seahawks.<\/p>\n

Jake Lopez added 15 points and Chandler Ohrberg chipped in eight for the Mariners who were given an at-large berth to face the Golden West League champion Seahawks.  <\/p>\n

Ocean View had 27 points from Christian Anderson and 20 from Andrew Reynolds, to advance to the second round. They went on to defeat Servite in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals. The Mariners were 16-13 overall this season.<\/p>\n

MATADORS STUMBLE<\/p>\n

The Bolsa Grande High boys basketball team stumbled in the first round of the playoffs with a 64-47 loss to Arlington at home last week.<\/p>\n

The Matadors kept pace early, but Arlington slowly took control of the game. Noah Santiago led the Matadors with 12, while Ralph Bolanos and Sebastian Waked each added seven points. Isaiah Moore and Vanhau Phan each had four points as 10 different Bolsa Grande players scored in the game.<\/p>\n

ARGOS SUFFER SETBACK<\/p>\n

The Garden Grove High’s boys basketball team started slowly, leading to a 64-52 loss to Burbank in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2AA playoffs last week at Garden Grove High.<\/p>\n

Burbank jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter, but the Argonauts rallied to tie the game 32-32 by halftime. But another slow start to the second half put Garden Grove into a hole from which it could not recover.<\/p>\n

Burbank outscored the Argonauts, 18-9 in the third quarter to take control of the game.<\/p>\n

Gabriel Ganac had a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Sebastian Castro added nine points. Jordan Harris and Matt Lopez each chipped in seven points and Justin Lova to added six.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
