We see protests in Ferguson, Baltimore, New York and countless other places.<\/p>\n

We simplify the issue; we argue about whether police are wrong or right, good or bad.<\/p>\n

We argue about whose lives matter.<\/p>\n

It’s more complicated than that, of course, but it’s a worthwhile discussion to have.<\/p>\n

Just not today. At least for me.<\/p>\n

My wish is that we, as a community, can come together and pay respects to the five officers who died in the line of duty while serving and protecting Garden Grove.<\/p>\n

Officer Michael Rainford.<\/p>\n

 Master Officer Howard Dallies.<\/p>\n

These were good men doing their duty. If you visit the sad but magnificent memorial in front of the Garden Grove police station, you’ll learn a bit about them.<\/p>\n

The memorial will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursday, May 19, in front of the police station, 11301 Acacia Parkway in Garden Grove.<\/p>\n

It will be a somber but important day.<\/p>\n

A day that we can unite and let everyone know that these fallen officers are gone.<\/p>\n

Gone but not forgotten.<\/p>\n
