Saturday, the Orange County Republican Assembly held its annual picnic.<\/p>\n

CRA members, their friends, and families were invited for a day of fun, food and festivities to help usher in summer. It was an opportunity to meet other CRA Club members and Orange County GOP members as well as meet new people engaged in the same causes.<\/p>\n

Saturday, the Orange County Republican Assembly held its annual picnic.<\/p>\n

CRA members, their friends, and families were invited for a day of fun, food and festivities to help usher in summer. It was an opportunity to meet other CRA Club members and Orange County GOP members as well as meet new people engaged in the same causes.<\/p>\n

"It was the largest annual Orange County Republican Assembly Picnic we have ever held," said Stanton Councilman David Shawver, who spearheaded the event. "Stanton was happy to host the picnic and it was a great success with more than 175 in attendance.”<\/p>\n

Shawver said that it was great to see Congressman Ed Royce Jr. and his father, Ed Royce Sr., who were both able to  attend the picnic.<\/p>\n

"Ed Royce Sr., 92, served on the Stanton City Council and is a legend in helping people just like his son Ed Royce Jr. does, Shawver said.<\/p>\n

"We had guests from all over Orange County and they loved and marveled at our new Stanton Central Park — the showcase of parks in Orange County — looking more like a regional park."<\/p>\n

Rep. Royce asked for those in attendance to call all of their Republican friends and tell them to get out and vote, noting that only 47 percent of Republicans compared to 67 percent of Democrats voted in the primaries.<\/p>\n

"The Democrats had a contested primary, so they knew they had to get out and vote and now we need to do the same," Royce said.<\/p>\n

Royce thanked Assemblywoman Young Kim for her work in Sacramento, working to stop any tax raises that would drive businesses out of California.<\/p>\n

"I thank Young for her steadfast work," he said.<\/p>\n

"We are going to get voters out for the next four months to stand firm and vote against tax raises," said Young Kim. "I am standing firm against tax raises and I am working to protect Prop. 13 and I will continue to fight to make sure Prop. 13 stays where it is.”<\/p>\n

Kim said Democrats in the legislature need a two-thirds vote in order to pass tax raises.<\/p>\n

"We can't let that happen; we believe in our ability to do what we need to do," she said. "Our primary turnout was poor; let this be a wake-up call; not showing up is how we lose. Get out of your comfort zone and vote.”<\/p>\n

Kim, who represents Stanton and other cities, noted that she has the opportunity to serve 12 years in the Assembly and intends to do that if voters allot her their vote. "Vote for me," she said, noting that she has been blessed to work with everyone in the Legislature and be an effective representative for her district.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
