Garden Grove High beat Westminster High by a score of 28-21 last week at Garden Grove High.<\/p>\n

Westminster started off the scoring by marching down the field in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Garden Grove High used a fake punt in which Adam Johnson ran 40 yards to the end zone to tie the game.<\/p>\n

Garden Grove High quarterback Ruben Mendoza connected on several passes in the second quarter, culminating with a touchdown for a 14-7 lead.<\/p>\n

Argonauts running back Joseph Camarillo battered the Lions defense, eventually wearing them down. And when Camarillo wasn’t muscling through, the Argos handed the ball to the speedy Dominick Sanchez.<\/p>\n

The duo led the Argos to a 28-14 lead in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

The Lions came back with a score and gained possession for a potential tie, but Garden Grove High star defender Lau Gauta crushed a Westminster running back in the backfield for loss, with time running out.<\/p>\n

“This was a great game to watch, but what a game to coach,” said Garden Grove head coach Ricardo Cepeda.<\/p>\n

Garden Grove next faces off against Woodbridge High School at 7 p.m. on Friday Sept. 9 at University High School.<\/p>\n
