Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach) was honored last week by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) with a 100 percent score for his voting record on small business issues in the 2016 legislative session.

The score reflects the Assemblyman’s unwavering support of California’s small businesses and creating more job opportunities throughout the state.

“As a small business owner myself, I am honored to receive such high recognition from the National Federation of Independent Business. Small businesses employ more than 90 percent of all of Californians and are the foundation of our economy, defining the American Dream,” said Allen, who represents Garden Grove and Westminster. “It’s important that we continue to fight for policies that promote and strengthen small businesses. I look forward to continuing to work with NFIB to provide a voice for small businesses at the state Capitol.”

As a non-partisan organization, NFIB tracks the votes of each member of the state Assembly and Senate on legislation that would have a significant impact on California small businesses. They then compile a voting record to provide a critical evaluation of legislators’ support of enhancing California’s economy, specifically through small businesses.

“Assemblyman Travis Allen has been one of the strongest advocates for small business in the state Capitol as a reliable friend of NFIB. As a small business owner, Travis Allen personally understands the immense challenges that exist in California to own, operate, and expand a business. We applaud Travis Allen for his 100% percent NFIB rating and for fighting to protect small businesses in California,” NFIB/CA State Executive Director Tom Scott said.

A nonpartisan, nonprofit association, NFIB has 350,000 small and independent business owners across the nation. NFIB research and polls, such as its monthly Small Business Economic Trends, have been used and cited by Federal Reserve officials, Congress, state legislatures and top gubernatorial and presidential administration officials as one of the more valuable barometers of the American economy.
