The Garden Grove Unified School District’s strong showing at the 2017 National Conference for Computer-Using Educators last month reflects the district’s commitment to equipping its nearly 45,000 students with the computer technology skills critical for success in the 21st century. <\/p>\n

Several district teachers on special assignment spearheaded workshops about best practices for integrating cutting edge technology skills into the classroom experience.<\/p>\n

Santiago High school teachers David Allen and Michael Coyle led a presentation titled “21st Century Note-Taking Revisited,” demonstrating to other educators how technology can transform students’ note-taking into note-making. “Say What? Writing like a Historian” was presented by Catherine Atkinson of Irvine Intermediate School, Gregg Primeaux of Garden Grove High School, and John Doles of Rancho Alamitos High.<\/p>\n

“GGUSD educators are among the best in the state; not only are they great teachers but they are leaders and innovators,” said Walter Muneton, Board of Education trustee. “We are proud of our teachers for sharing their knowledge and instructional strategies with other teachers from across the nation.”<\/p>\n

Pacifica High School’s Sarah Housepian, and instructional technology teachers on special assignment Lampa Nguyen and Corey Mathias shared strategies for combining apps with effective lesson design.  Rancho Alamitos teacher Jorge Velastegui’s presentation demonstrates the power of using screencasts across curriculum in highly engaging projects.<\/p>\n

The CUE Conference is among the largest education technology conferences in the country and the largest and oldest education technology conference in California.
