The hard truth is that illegal fireworks can turn a celebration into a nightmare. They cause injuries and even death. They damage and, yes, destroy, property. They raise noise and tension levels long after the fireworks shows have ended.<\/p>\n

Garden Grove has a no-tolerance policy when it comes to these bad boys.<\/p>\n

Get caught setting off illegal fireworks \u2014 or misusing legal ones \u2014 and you’ll be fined $1,000.<\/p>\n

Last year, police issued 47, $1,000 administrative citations.<\/p>\n

This year, the Police Department has added two-man units to saturated high-volume call areas, and the Fire Department will deploy additional firefighters and fire investigators.<\/p>\n

So fly your flags, sing your songs, enjoy your barbecues, toast your freedoms and… stick with safe and sane fireworks, on private property.<\/p>\n
