\n\tLongtime Garden Grove resident and former Garden Grove Woman of the Year Delia Morelos Carrasco has passed. She was 86.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tLongtime Garden Grove resident and former Garden Grove Woman of the Year Delia Morelos Carrasco has passed. She was 86.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tCarrasco was born in El Paso, Texas to parents Frances and Julian Morelos on December 18, 1926. She was the oldest of four daughters. On April 23, 1945, she married Raymond Gonzales Carrasco and raised 15 children in the house that her husband built for her in Garden Grove. <\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tIn 1972 she made a renewed commitment to Jesus Christ – sharing her faith with her children and everyone who crossed her path. <\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough she left school at an early age to help her family, she later returned to he studies and graduated from Golden West College with honors and an Associates Degree in psychology. While attending Golden West, Carrasco earned straight As and was president of the Honor Society and Alpha Gamma Sigma.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tCarrasco was recognized for her outstanding accomplishments over the years, including being honored as Garden Grove Woman of the Year in 1982, Orange County Woman of the Year in 1984 and top 20 Hispanic Woman of the Year in 1986. <\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tIn 1985, she received a Resolution of Commendation Award from the Orange County<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tBoard of Supervisors for her charity work with United Way, The Salvation Army, and Tthe YWCA. <\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tCarrasco was influential in getting the dirt road Marshall Lane paved, was a major influence in getting the City Council to clean up and eventually renovate one of the worst barrios at that time – Buena Clinton –  <\/span>and she volunteered her time visiting and counseling girls at The Orange County Juvenile Hall.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tCarrasco was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond and baby No. 16, Christian. She is survived by her sons and daughters: Raymond and wife Suzanne; Daniel; Donald and wife Kimberly; Rene; Diana and husband Mark Yegge; Rocky and wife Patty; Delia and husband David Marshall; Robert ; Roger and wife Sonia; Dorothy and husband Amir Oreyzi; David and wife Tammy; Richard and wife Maria; Dolores and husband Tom Chatterton; Rosemary and Randy and wife Min. She is also survived by 39 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tA statement put out by her children reads: “We will miss her comforting smile, her words of encouragement and her mouth-watering flour tortillas which she diligently made every morning for her family.
