It was a sight to behold: children rummaging around for Easter eggs, parents trying to steer them in the right direction, face-painting and games.

Oh, and a delicious pancake breakfast.

Not a bad way to spend Easter. Or, actually, the day before Easter.

The city of Stanton held its annual Easter Egg Hunt at the City Park, along with a resource fair on Saturday, where the Stanton Kiwanis Club served a pancake breakfast.

The city of Stanton held its annual Easter Egg Hunt at the City Park, along with a resource fair on Saturday, where the Stanton Kiwanis Club served a pancake breakfast.

Participating in the Resource Fair were members of the Casa Youth Shelter, Well Program, Readiness on the Read, Give for a Smile Services for low-income families and Giving Children Hope.

Also on hand was the Boys and Girls Club of Stanton, Western Youth Distribution Services and Day in the Life of Children, which provided information and a bean-bag tossing game.

Other resource participants included Fitness on the Go, Orange County Animal Care, Cities Helping Cities in Crisis, Sam's Club of Stanton, Stanton Community Foundation and Stanton GRIP.

The City of Stanton, Stanton GRIP and the Stanton Community Foundation sponsored the annual Easter egg hunt, which is to "Celebrate the arrival of spring."

Each year, Walgreens of Stanton provides complementary photos with the Easter Bunny and their staff was on hand again this year, snapping photos and making children smile. There was face painting by the Illumination Foundation and games such as the Easter Egg Goody Walk.

Hilda the Easter Bunny was on hand for her 19th year to have her picture taken with children and families.

Easter egg hunting areas were sectioned off into age categories, with candy hidden throughout the park.

The event was free to residents and visitors from surrounding cities, thanks to the many sponsors, helpers and volunteers. Participants just needed to furnish their own container or basket for their goodies.

The Stanton Public Library furnished the rabbit-ear head bands for youngsters to color and then wear during the day and the Boys and Girls Club was on hand to help with a spinning wheel for prizes.
