\n\tGrab your lawn chair and cool off during the Thursday evening Westminster Summer Concert Series.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrom 6 to 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 14, residents and visitors can enjoy a different band each week sitting on the cool grass in the Westminster Sunken Rose Garden, 8200 Westminster Blvd., as they share a picnic dinner or treats purchased from non-profit vendors onsite or something  packed from home.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast week featured the five-member Southland Mega Groove band. July 31  is "The Beatless," classic rock; Aug. 7  is "The Silverados," country music; and Aug. 14 is the annual Community Concert Night with Westminster's own "Nicholson Pipes & Drums" Bagpipe Band, the Westminster Chorale Show Tunes Choir and the Greater Grace Church Gospel Music Choir.<\/p>\n

\n\tAll concerts include activities for children, such as games and crafts,  located behind the vendor's pop-ups.<\/p>\n

\n\tWestminster City Council members were on hand to greet the crowd.<\/p>\n

\n\tCouncil members Margie Rice and Diana Carey thanked the community for coming out and supporting the concerts.<\/p>\n

\n\t"We're grateful to our sponsors, so we can have these events to bring our community together," said Councilman Sergio Contreras. "We want to thank the sponsors and staff for working together and the residents for coming out to support the event."<\/p>\n

\n\t"Thank you to our sponsors for their generous donations: Midway City Sanitary District, Soroptimist International of Westminster and Southern California Gas Company," said Mayor Tri Ta."<\/p>\n

\n\t"We help the non-profit groups to set up and prepare their canopy and help them tear down after the event," said Facility Supervisor Frank Cobo.<\/p>\n

\n\tNon-profits on site included Barber City Woman's Club with hot dogs, nachos, chips, soda, water, brownies and cookies; Kiwanis of Westminster offering desserts, candy, chips, coffee and soda; Lulac has homemade tamales, churros, candy and soda; and the Westminster Nursery School offers a variety of popcorn.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne last concert\/family day, will be the Dia De La Familia, Sunday, Sept. 7, at Sigler Park, 7200 Plaza St., from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe afternoon will feature family fun with the "Denada" musical group performing and Las Tapatias Folklorico dancing group, sponsored by the Westminster Community Service and Recreation Department.<\/p>\n

\n\t"Denada" is billed as a premier dance band — not your average band — but with a vast song list tailored to suit the mood of each event where a dance band is needed.<\/p>\n
