Jordan Antunez ran for 228 yards and four touchdowns to lead Garden Grove High football team to a 56-6 win over El Dorado in the first round of the CIF-SS Southern Division playoffs last week at Garden Grove High.

Garden Grove scored on the opening possession of the game and was never really challenged by the Golden Hawks. Joseph Camarillo capped the opening drive with a three-yard touchdown run that gave the Argonauts a 7-0 lead.

Later in the quarter, Antunez added touchdown runs of 20 and 66 yards to extend the lead to 21-0. Adam Johnson caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Camarillo that gave the Argonauts a 28-0 lead with 7:49 left in the first half.

The Golden Hawks had a chance to put points on the board just before halftime. They drove to the Argonauts 1 yard line, but were eventually stopped on fourth down and inches as the Argonauts took a 28-0 lead into the half.

The Argonauts will play at Santa Ana Valley High at 7 p.m. on Friday, in the second round. Santa Ana Valley, the second-place team out of the Orange League, had little trouble with Santa Ana, as the Falcons defeated the Saints, 36-6, in their first round matchup.

Santa Ana Valley had 115 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead the Falcons. Quarterback Jason Wilkinson had 195 yards passing with two touchdown passes. Santa Ana Valley brings a solid defense that held the No. 2 seed Katella to just 8 points in an 8-6 loss. It was the Falcons’ only loss in Orange League play.
