The Women’s Council at St. Polycarp Church, 8100 Chapman Ave., in Stanton, held its annual Christmas Bazaar over the weekend.
According to organizers, the women have been hosting the Christmas Bazaar for more than 40 years.
“The Women’s Council uses the proceeds from the Bazaar to help support the St Polycarp church, school and Family Support Center,” said Rose Norton
And, St. Polycarp Catholic Church and school has been serving the Stanton Community for more than 50 years.

The Women’s Council at St. Polycarp Church, 8100 Chapman Ave., in Stanton, held its annual Christmas Bazaar over the weekend.
According to organizers, the women have been hosting the Christmas Bazaar for more than 40 years.
“The Women’s Council uses the proceeds from the Bazaar to help support the St Polycarp church, school and Family Support Center,” said Rose Norton
And, St. Polycarp Catholic Church and school has been serving the Stanton Community for more than 50 years.
“In the beginning, the Christmas Bazaar was a vehicle for the sale of crafts and homemade sweets that the Council Women had put together throughout the year,” Norton said. “Over the years, the Bazaar has evolved into an event featuring many outside vendors as well, who present a variety of crafts and products for sale.”
Along with all the crafts, there is a white elephant table, food, sweets, raffles and prizes, to mention a few items
This year, there were 36 vendors; many who were repeat vendors, and there were so many vendors that they continued into other rooms as well as the Parish Hall.
“The Bazaar is always well attended and everyone enjoys the festive Christmas decorations along with the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus,” Norton said. “It’s a great way to get ready for the Christmas season.”
Patti Kovacs chaired the Christmas Bazaar this year; each year a different Women's Council member volunteers to do the honors.
Right at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the priest showed up to draw tickets for the opportunity drawing and Santa was on hand for picture taking and ringing of the Christmas sleigh bells.
St. Polycarp School is an accredited school that teaches children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and the Family Support Center helps low-income and homeless families with food and other services.
Aside from the annual Christmas Bazaar, outside of Parish Hall each week, authentic Mexican food of enchiladas and sopes is available for purchase at very reasonable prices and extremely great tastes; there are beverages available there as well.
