The Garden Grove Fire Department has dispatched two engine companies as part of multi-jurisdictional strike teams to the Sand Fire in Los Angeles County.
The first strike team is composed of fire agencies from throughout Orange County.
The second engine is assigned to a California Office of Emergency Services strike team with firefighters from throughout the county. Additional firefighters have been recalled to staff reserve engines to ensure coverage to Garden Grove is uninterrupted.

Extreme fire conditions coupled with drought conditions have caused the fire season to begin earlier than usual. The Fire Department is part of the State Master Mutual Aid system, and has
responded to requests for assistance throughout the state. All fire apparatus and personnel are equipped to respond anywhere for emergencies that include wild fires, earthquakes and other disasters.
