Garden Grove Unified School District parents are invited to attend a free information night to learn more about the California State Standards and student assessments.

This interactive workshop, the last of three sessions this school year, will take place Tuesday, Feb. 9, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Allen Elementary School, 16200 Bushard St., Fountain Valley.

At the information sessions, parents will be provided hands-on opportunities through breakout sessions to see how the new state standards are being implemented and assessed. As a result, parents will have a deeper understanding of the state standards to support their child at home. Staff representatives will be on hand to assist parents in interpreting the first results of the new state assessment, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, in mathematics and English-language arts.

Interpreters will be available in Spanish, Vietnamese and Korean. For more information, contact the district’s department of Parent and Community Outreach at 714-663-6084.
