Police honor fallen officers

Former Garden Grove Deputy Police Chief and recently-retired Tustin Police Chief Scott Jordan returns to Garden Grove as guest speaker for the 27th annual “Call to Duty” Police Memorial. 

The memorial takes place on Thursday, May 15, at 5 p.m., in front of Police Headquarters, at 11301 Acacia Parkway.

The public ceremony honors the memory of Garden Grove’s five police officers killed in the line of duty: Myron Trapp, Andy Reese, Donald Reed, Michael Rainford and Howard Dallies, Jr.

The public ceremony honors the memory of Garden Grove’s five police officers killed in the line of duty: Myron Trapp, Andy Reese, Donald Reed, Michael Rainford and Howard Dallies, Jr. 

The ringing of the Memorial Bell for each of the fallen officers complements a stirring 21-gun salute, riderless horse, and formal presentations to the surviving families. Entertainment will be provided by the Bolsa Grande High School Concert Choir. 

The following street closures will be in effect on May 15, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.: east and west bound Acacia Parkway, from Garden Grove City Hall to  9th Street; and Civic Center Drive, from Garden Grove Boulevard to Acacia Parkway.
