Yesterday afternoon, I found out that I – along with four of my colleagues – will be the target of a recall campaign led by gun-rights extremists who want to replace me with one of their Tea Party allies.
Let me set the record straight right now.

Yesterday afternoon, I found out that I – along with four of my colleagues – will be the target of a recall campaign led by gun-rights extremists who want to replace me with one of their Tea Party allies.
Let me set the record straight right now.
I have always been a firm believer in protecting the Second Amendment rights of responsible gun-owners, but as a mother and a teacher, I will never waver in my commitment to keeping our children and our communities safe. Period.
What is truly shocking is that this political stunt has only targeted Latino legislators – a testament to how truly out-of-touch these individuals are, and raises the question of their real motives and intentions.
I plan on sending the message right here and now that I will not succumb to petty partisan games. And I certainly won't cave to ideological extremists seeking some empty political advantage.
I am going to fight this bogus recall, but I cannot fight alone.
