Rancho romps! Showdown set for Thursday

This week, the Vaqueros will play their final league game against undefeated Garden Grove High, which is ranked No. 2 in its division in CIF and No. 22 in Orange County.

The Argonauts, a perennial powerhouse under coach Willy Puga, have outscored opponents 261-0 in their past five games.

On the season, the Argonauts, who won the CIF title two years ago and lost in the finals last year, have outscored opponents 415 to 67.

Garden Grove High and Rancho will face off at 7 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 7) at Bolsa Grande High.

If Rancho wins, it will be one of the biggest upsets in Garden Grove League history.

"They're very good," said Rancho coach Mike Enright. "But we're going to battle them. We've already secured a playoff spot and we're getting better every week."
