The Garden Grove Elks honored the American Softball Association’s 14 and under girls National Softball Champions at their lodge last week.

The girls were truly magnificent in this year’s season with a record of 35-4.

The girls, their families and their coaches were treated to a banquet at the Lodge. After the meal and dinner festivities, the girls and their families were brought into the large Lodge Room during the Elks Lodge meeting and were honored with a recitation of their accomplishments. The name of their team is the “Garden Grove Wrecking Crew.”

Most of the girls on the team have been playing together for manager Adam Corrigan since they were 8 years old. Jeff Nadeau, a La Quinta High School softball coach for the past 11 years, volunteered as the girls pitching coach. Adam Townson and Lauro Escobedo filled out their top notch coaching staff.

Jeff Nadeau said, “These girls exemplify everything that is heroic, character building and noble about sports. They defined courage that would make a Disney movie proud.”
