A fun, festive Easter event

The City of Stanton reported that about 3,500 showed up for the city's annual Easter Egg Hunt at Stanton Park.

It was perfect weather, and those attending could have their picture taken with volunteer Easter Bunny Hilda, courtesy of Stanton's Walgreen Drug Store at the corner of Chapman Avenue and Beach Boulevard.

The City of Stanton reported that about 3,500 showed up for the city's annual Easter Egg Hunt at Stanton Park.

It was perfect weather, and those attending could have their picture taken with volunteer Easter Bunny Hilda, courtesy of Stanton's Walgreen Drug Store at the corner of Chapman Avenue and Beach Boulevard.

Those attending could also visit the many resource fair booths and have breakfast for a small donation the Stanton Kiwanis Club, whose members cooked and served the breakfast, with help from Pacifica High School's "Latinos Unidos" club.

Free activities also included a goodie walk, face painting and the Easter egg hunt.

The event was free to residents and visitors from surrounding cities, thanks to the many sponsors, helpers and volunteers. Participants just needed to furnish their own container or basket for their goodies.

"We always come here because Stanton does such a nice job of putting on their Easter Egg Hunt," said Anaheim resident Sarah Adams, who lives on the dividing line of Stanton and Anaheim.

The Stanton Public Library furnished rabbit earsfor youngsters to color and then wear during the day and the Boys & Girls Club was on hand too, with a booth.

Walgreens also had a busy spinning wheel, where for a $1 donation to Choc Hospital, youngsters could spin for prizes.

State Assemblywoman Young Kim attended, handing out plastic Easter eggs with goodies inside, and advising those who attended, to stay hydrated in the warm sun.
