The Garden Grove Community Services Department held its seventh annual Easter "Eggs-cavation" at Atlantis Play Center, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the first 300 families who registered for the experience.
The celebration is always a sell-out and this year was no exception. A sign reading, "Sold out," was near the entrance to Atlantis.

Small white paper bags with the city's name printed on them were handed out to each child as they entered Atlantis, so the children could gather 10 plastic Easter eggs with treats and candy inside and a map to direct the participants to other activities as well, and there were gold eggs that, if found, would yield a greater prize.
In all, 1,030 colorful plastic eggs were hidden for children to have fun finding them.
There were carnival games, face decorating, crafts, bounce houses and pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Also, Mary-Helen Delafield with Mad Science was on hand to help the youngsters with a dry-ice demonstration, which surprised those who participated, as they placed their hand on the glass beaker-type container that then shot its lid into the air, from the combination of dry-ice and the heat from their hands.
Coming up is a collaboration of Garden Grove and Westminster for the "Mad Science Summer Camps 2015." Those include: Robots 101, New MSI Forensics Lab, Science in Motion and Rockin' Rockets.

Coordinating the Easter event was Atlantis Recreation Coordinator Xavier Medina, who said anyone can register for the yearly events, by paying in-person at Atlantis.
Some of the other yearly events coming up at Atlantis include: Winterfest, Jack O' Lantern Jamboree and Camp Out.
