BY LOREEN BERLIN: "This is really great. We had 350 people for our first 'National Night Out,' said an exuberant Julie Roman, community service director for Stanton.

Adventure City donated 20 admission tickets, which made one grandmother and granddaughter very happy.

"This is very nice," said Stanton grandmother Patricia Banda, with granddaughter Isabella Gardner, 6. "I've lived in Stanton all my life and it's a good city." The two won four of the Adventure City tickets in a drawing during the evening and were all smiles.

First Responders were on hand to share what they do.

"We want to meet the community and let everyone know we are in the area serving them," said Barrett Sprout with Care Ambulance Operations.

"To be here tonight gives us the ability to interact with the community when we're not working; we're here as a community partner," said Stanton Police Services Lt. Jim England with the Orange County Sheriff's Coroner Department.

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) representative Lynn Selden said she had a great response to her information. "It went great; I got signups for CERT," she said.

The event was free, thanks to lots of sponsors.

Represented were local firefighters, the Sheriff's Department, the Orange County Fire Authority “Fire Truck,” the CARE Ambulance, the bomb detonation team, including dog "Paco," who is from Mexico.

The jump house was sponsored by Bank of the West and Adventure City, Sam’s Club booth, Starbucks and McDonald's had fun giveaways.

There was the Community Action Partnership of Orange County booth, Neighborhood Watch information booth and Metro PCS booth, to name a few.

Code Enforcement and Park Ranger staff and their vehicle were on hand and the Sheriff's  Department Sgt. Kenny Chism with the Mounted Unit was on hand with "Copper," a 12-year-old horse that has been with the unit for nearly two years.

Those who showed up hungry were fed a free hot dog dinner by the Stanton Lions Club.
