It seems Papa Guido Guini has met with foul play – murdered in the kitchen – of the family's favorite Italian restaurant in Garden Grove.

Now, during dinner at “Papa GG’s Ristorante Italiano,” the authorities are hot on the trail of the perpetrator.

The cast includes a list of questionable characters within the family who each have their reasons to have committed the crime.

There's the widow, Mama Lena Guini (Carol Van Holt); oldest daughter Freida Guini (Marianne Allen), who set out to be a nun but made her way to becoming a lucrative topless dancer; middle daughter Gina Guini (Eileen Jensen); youngest daughter Penny Guini (Marianne Hahn); long-time and close friend Donna Bella (Cathy Waters), who has a crystal ball and forecasts future events; and Father Al Fredo (Dewey Linehan), priest and cousin of Papa Guido who has been involved with the family since the marriage of Guido and Lena.

He presided over all of the baptisms, Gina’s wedding and the funeral.

Other characters include a fixture at the restaurant, waitress Rosa Fagoli (Debbie Karlson) who is a loyal employee; and the elderly Aunt Minnie Strony (Lynn Seaholm), a constant complainer, living with the family for the past 20 years. The family is tired of  her and  Guido wanted her out.

Mary Narra (Charlotte McNamaara) is the charming restaurant greeter/hostess. Many wonder about her smile; is there more to the smile, something behind those sweet, pursed lips?

“Killer in the Kitchen” was a fundraiser presented by the all-woman Harbor Mesa Lions Club, hosted by the Garden Grove Lions at the club’s building in Garden Grove on Aug. 17.

The original play was written, produced and directed by Harbor Mesa member Carol Van Holt and narrated by Gina Stansbury.

Police Detective Gellato is immediate past District Governor PJ Smith; the hostess’ husband is Seal Beach Zone A Chair Mario Narra; Hank Lopez is Guido's lawyer; Riccotto is a longtime friend and confidante, played by 2nd Vice District Governor Gil Smith; District 4-L4 Governor Sheila Casteel played Candy, who earns the most money for the escort service.

The secret is out; the killer is known, but to learn the outcome, one must see the show.
