Ticket sales have recorded an estimated 500 people in the audience. The choir department at Rancho Alamitos has over 250 in a total of five choirs with the top choir being vocal ensemble. The director of all these choirs is Samuel Nuñez who has been teaching at the high school for nine years, “This year’s choirs are more focused and they like singing – a lot.

“It also makes the teaching faster and easier, Nunez said.

The choirs at Rancho Alamitos are Treble Choir, a beginner girls’ group; Men’s Ensemble, a beginner boys’ group which combines with Treble Choir to form Concert Choir; there is also Advanced Treble Choir which is an intermediate level girl choir; and there is Vocal Ensemble, an advanced mixed-choir. Last, but not least, there is Chamber Singers, a group made up entirely of select members hand-picked by the director.

This concert also featured solo performances by Sophia Diri (“Broken Hearted Girl” by Beyonce), Chris Salgado’s “So Sick” by Ne-Yo, Kristen Durstenfeld’s “Traveling Soldier” by Dixie Chicks), Michelle Moncada’s “Together” by Kina Grannis, Citlali Garcia’s “Misguided Ghost” by Paramore) and Vanessa Hernandez’ “Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift.
