The H. Louis Lake Senior Center in Garden Grove was the setting for dancing and lots of fun for seniors recently as they celebrated the arrival of spring last week.

They danced, enjoyed food and visited with each other at round tables off to the side of the dance floor with music provided by a live band, the "Serenaders."

Oh yes, and there was the Easter Bunny, on hand for pictures in a specially-decorated location for those who attended the festivities, which have been taking place for more than 20 years.

Oh yes, and there was the Easter Bunny, on hand for pictures in a specially-decorated location for those who attended the festivities, which have been taking place for more than 20 years.

Last week's event was enjoyed by more than 100 attendees, who love to have fun, according to Recreation and Human Services Coordinator Juan Medina, with the Garden Grove Community Services Department.

The event was billed as, "An unforgettable Spring Celebration" and it was, in a very pretty setting with decorations, music and food.

These seniors are from an era where people attending special events "dressed up" in their finest apparel, even to go shopping in town, and these seniors didn't disappoint as they showed up in their "best dress," and finery, looking ready to go "up town."

Dances are held once a month, on special occasions such as Mother's Day and other holiday events according to Medina.

"But every Wednesday is dance time from 10 a.m. to noon," he said.

The next special events slated for the Senior Center include:

— Cinco de Mayo on May 5.

— Mother's Day on May 7.

— The Strawberry Ball on May 22.

A Senior King and Queen will be chosen to reign at the Strawberry Ball, chosen for their dedication in time and effort at the Senior Center.

"We will choose the king and another service group will select the queen," said Medina.

Seniors looking for daily, weekly and monthly activities, along with senior excursions, can find them in the Senior Center flier in the lobby of the center.
