Navy League Board Members Steve Yohai and Irv Cuevas presented a check for $1,800 to cover the cost of the weeklong Academy held for the top one percent of the 65 NJROTC units in Southern California and Arizona.

Yohai and Cuevas congratulated the cadets for their outstanding performance and achievements both with the NJROTC program and their academic curriculum.

About 200 students will participate at the Irvine Outdoor Recreation Center for five days, attending classes in such subjects as leadership, ethics, and motivation.  They’ll also have classes in marksmanship, swimming, water survival, and orienteering (land navigation).  And each day there will be physical training and drills.

Last year, the Newport Beach Council supported Pacifica’s NJROTC Program with a $2,000 grant for participation in the national Academic Bowl held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
