RG Carroll and Bonnie Smith-Carroll, both in their 80s and married for 62 years, will celebrate Valentine's Day on Sunday.
The Stanton couple, who live in Rowntree Gardens, met at a roller skating party organized by their church. Carroll and his friend saw a “cute blonde” at the other end of the rink.
They agreed to race over, and the first to arrive would ask her out on a date. Bonnie had just moved out west, and wasn’t too happy about being uprooted during her high school years.

Meeting her future husband changed all that; and they’ve been sweethearts ever since.
