Saint Columban Catholic Church in Garden Grove hosted its 56th annual Parish Festival – Fun in the Sun Friday through Sunday, April 26-28. “As a multicultural parish, we look forward to this time each year, when we can come together and enjoy the blessings of the love of God in our lives,” St. Columban Church Business Manager Bridget Phillips said. “The festival weekend is our opportunity to share with one another and our community fun, food, entertainment and rides. This year we were able to have live music and great entertainment from all ethnic communities, along with games including bingo for the adults.” Those attending the weekend event had the opportunity to taste some of the ethnic food prepared by the church parishioners. Food items included Mexican tacos, Filipino dishes, Vietnamese Pho and combo plates, along with pizza. There were sodas to drink and, for some adults, beer, wine and margaritas at the beer garden. “The weekend was an opportunity to meet up with family and friends for fellowship and good times,” Phillips said. Those who purchased a $2 raffle or opportunity ticket had the chance to take home the grand prize of $5,000. St. Columban School, 10855 Stanford Ave., which holds a “GreatSchools Rating,” is a K-8 school with 243 students.
