Los Alamitos High School senior and Show Choir co-President Karoline Ribak, 17, of Garden Grove is appearing at the South Coast Repertory Theatre in "A Christmas Carol" thru Dec. 27 in Costa Mesa.
“It’s definitely really been a profound experience for me because I was actually in production seven years ago in 'A Christmas Carol' where I played the role of Belinda,” said Ribak. “Basically, I’m returning to the production and I was cast in an adult role (as Fan) this year. I definitely experienced great emotional growth as an actor in preparation for my role.”
Ribak has been acting since the age of 5. She started acting in the Cypress Civic Theatre and at the Long Beach Playhouse prior to joining the Student Conservatory at SCR.
“I started acting at SCR at the age of 8 after doing several productions as a child,” she said. “I’m currently in my ninth year at SCR." She has done a total of 15 productions in her career.
Ribak’s most memorable experience at LAHS was performing at the Grand Ole Opry with the Show Choir “Sound FX,” and coming home as National Champions. She actually spent 14 years of her life at a performing studio and said that it geared her up for a rigorous high school career in Show Choir.
At the SCRT, Ribak is the oldest actor in the conservatory. Ribak said it fills her with great joy knowing that she influences these kids the way she was once influenced as a young girl.
