The orientation in Spanish starts at 9 a.m. and in English at 5:30 p.m. at the district’s new Language Academy, 16225 Newhope St., Fountain Valley.

This is expected to be a popular program. Space is limited and parents must attend an orientation to complete an application for classes starting next school year.

Students enrolled in the new Two-Way Language Immersion Program learn to think, read, write, and speak naturally in English and Spanish. They receive instruction in both English and Spanish to develop linguistic and academic competence in both languages.

Students from the two language groups — fluent English and fluent Spanish speakers — attend class together, learn from one another, and support each other’s second language acquisition.
