Matcha is a new concept in soft-serve ice cream.
The ice cream is made from ground Matcha tea leaves.
Three young men — Sang Pham, David Truong and Rex Vuong — took a vacation to Japan two years ago and were introduced to the Matcha idea.
Now, they've brought Mr. Matcha to Historic Main Street in Garden Grove.
"Matcha is a big item in Japan and when we saw it there we had the idea to bring it to America," Vuong said.

"Matcha is a big item in Japan and when we saw it there we had the idea to bring it to America," Vuong said.
Truong said there's nothing like Matcha. The cones that are made fresh daily; they're black in color and made of activated charcoal.
The soft serve is not the only item that is made with ceremonial-grade Matcha, which is known to be the highest quality Matcha available: All of Mr. Matcha's drinks are made with Matcha. These include the refreshing iced Matcha, Matcha Thai tea and Matcha coffees.
"All of our Matcha powder is imported directly from Japan," said Truong. "People also like to sprinkle Matcha powder on top of the soft-serve ice cream."
The owners said they're keeping busy, especially around dinner time.
What's their future goal?
"To bring Matcha around the country within the year," said Pham, with a big smile. "We travel fast."
Mr. Matcha is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 10:30 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from noon to 11 p.m. The store is at 12926 Main St., in Unit B, behind the "Bar Code."
Mayor Steve Jones welcomed Mr. Matcha and praised the owners for their product, noting that for months he has seen long lines of people waiting to get served and now he understands why.
"Now we're holding the official ribbon cutting since they joined the Chamber," said Jones.
The Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce hosted the ribbon cutting for the new business last week.
Mr. Matcha will be participating with other Garden Grove restaurants during the upcoming "Restaurant Week 2018" that runs from Saturday, Jan. 20 to Saturday Jan. 27. It's titled, "Taste the Best Desserts in Garden Grove."
