The event was sponsored by Professional Health Care Services Inc, which is also new as a sponsor, according to Recreation and Human Services Coordinator Juan Medina, with the Garden Grove Community Services Department.

Also new this year was transportation that is part of the Senior Mobility program, where CYC (California Yellow Cab) picked up and delivered 40 seniors so they could attend the Cinco de Mayo fun.

The next day, seniors participated in the "Happy Mother's Day" celebration sponsored by Scan Health Plan.

Coming up, Thursday, May 21, the City of Garden Grove will present the annual Strawberry Ball at the senior center where a Strawberry Days King and Queen will be selected to ride in the parade on  Strawberry Festival parade on May 23.

During the Strawberry Ball, the King and Queen will be introduced, who are chosen as Senior Volunteers of the Year. There's going to be dancing with the "5 Star Band," and a prime rib dinner for the cost of $25 (advance reservations are necessary).

And there's more. Saturday, May 23, a Strawberry Festival Parade Walk is set from 8:30 a.m. to noon; walkers are asked to arrive at the H. Louis Lake Senior Center by 8 a.m. to participate.

The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival 2015 is "Honoring Our Returning Veterans."

Medina said the walk is designed so anyone can enjoy walking slowly and together along a two-mile stroll. For this activity, sign-ups are being taken at the front office.

"Hope to see everyone come celebrate Memorial weekend with us," said Medina.
