The senior center is alive with seniors dancing to a live band every other Friday.
They met Friday, Jan. 24 from noon to 2 p.m. and the next dance opportunities will be Friday, Feb. 7 and Feb. 21.
"We started the 'Friday Dancing at Noon' because seniors were interested in dancing and having a live band," said Senior Center Supervisor Clair Hutchinson. "It's a fun way to get moving and get exercise; we've seen some of our seniors who come for 'limited' activities turn out for our Friday dances."

Hutchinson said they also have quite a few seniors from other senior centers who attend the dances.
"It's nice having new people attend our senior center; we have a lot of activities to offer the senior population," Hutchinson said.
“The Friday dance after lunch is a great program," said participant Mario Seda, and June Traver, who is one of the volunteers at the dances, said, “The center has such a great band and everyone seems to really enjoy the dance because they keep coming back and bringing their friends.”
Hutchinson said that some people attend the dances as couples but many of the seniors come just to listen to the music or, they will sometimes get up and dance as a large group.
"It's really nice to see the interaction and socialization of the seniors; it's a very friendly group," she said.
The dances are on the senior center's "long" Fridays when the center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; there are fliers at the Senior Center with all of the upcoming dates, so that seniors can get used to knowing which Friday's are dance Fridays.
In the "Looking Ahead" section of the senior newsletter, here are some other activities to plan for:
— Free tax preparation starts Wednesday Feb. 5. An appointment is required for those interested
— A Valentine's Day Party is set for Wednesday, Feb. 13.
— A pool tournament will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 9:30 a.m.
— Dance entrance fee is $1 per person and refreshments are sold for $1each.
"Our root beer floats are very popular with our dancers," said Hutchinson.
