The Miss Garden Grove Scholarship Organization is excited to announce the next installment of its quarterly Pub Trivia Fundraiser to benefit the Miss Garden Grove Scholarship Fund.

Scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Azteca Mexican Restaurant, the fundraiser helps supplement the organization’s scholarship fund, which provides college scholarships to young ladies ages 13-24 in the Garden Grove community.

“The community has always been so supportive of our contestants and titleholders,” said organization Executive Director Stacy Margolin. “Pub Trivia isn’t just a fun way to raise money, but a chance for the community to get to know the wonderful ladies who participate in our program.”

A staple on Garden Grove’s Main Street, Azteca is known for its wide selection of Mexican cuisine, as well as being the Elvis-themed restaurant. The entirety of the facility is decked out in homage to the “The King” and guests come from far and wide to eat and drink in the fun atmosphere.

Entry is $10 per player. Entrants can play individually, or as teams as large as eight players. Cash prizes and gift baskets will be awarded to the top three finishers.

An official local preliminary to Miss California and Miss America, The Miss Garden Grove Scholarship Organization began at the Strawberry Festival in 1952. In 1980, the program became affiliated with the Miss California and Miss America Organizations, and since that time has had two titleholders go on to compete for the title of Miss America (Jennifer Hanson, 1994, and Leah Cecil, 2011).

A not-for-profit, volunteer organization, the Miss Garden Grove Scholarship Organization encourages community service, fosters public speaking skills, develops friendships and creates leaders. A total of $5,850 in scholarships were awarded during the 2013 program, which crowned Missy Mendoza Miss Garden Grove and Karina Valdez Miss Garden Grove’s Outstanding Teen.
