The city of Stanton in cooperation with the El Capitan Orange County Boy Scouts of America, the Stanton Community Foundation, Stanton GRIP and the Stanton Lions Club sponsored this year’s “Halloween Fun with Family and Friends” on Saturday in Stanton Park, 7800 Katella Ave.
Other sponsors included Bob Huff for Senate, Stanton City Councilman Al Ethans, Stanton Mayor Carol Warren, Gary Delong for Congress, Congressman Chris Norby and Thomas Holguin, a school trustee in Anaheim.

The event was free for children of all ages, with 15 game booths, DJ entertainment, contests, face painting and a craft station.
Five non-profit food booths offered food and beverages for a nominal fee and the Boys and Girls Club of Stanton sponsored a candy/sweet walk
The Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of America are working together to gather canned food to “Help Fight Hunger Today,” and were on hand at the Halloween festivities to accept donations of canned food.
This year’s food drive will benefit 2nd Harvest Food Bank with more than 150,000 pounds of canned food to help the at-risk population in Orange County.

There is also a canned food donation drop off today at Smart and Final. Stater Brothers sponsored an earlier drop off.
Each year, the scouts hold the annual Scouting for Food to help fight hunger to help others and they each earn a patch that reads: “Helping Fight Hunger in Orange County, Calif.,” and they also earn community service hours for helping others.
Along with the serious business of the day, there were costume contests for ages 0-2 years, 3-4, 5-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14 years and up, with lots of adorable and creative costumes in all of the age ranges.
Walgreens of Stanton was on hand as it is each year, to take pictures of families with their children in costume; the pictures are free and available at Walgreens in the photo department on the corner of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, open 24/7.
Judges huddles mid-field to discuss the possible winners and select the top 10 in each age category.
In the 0-2 years of age, winners included a policeman, Scobee Do, two Raggedy Ann’s, Minnie Mouse, Queen of Hearts, a set of twins dressed as butterflies, Lady Jack Sparrow, Tri Sara Tops and first place went to “The Bat,” 9-month-old Damian from Anaheim, accompanied by his parents Daniel and Yesenia Rios.
