 The Garden Grove Community Foundation will be kicking off its 15-year anniversary at the first free summer concert on Thursday, July 11, at Eastgate Park, at 12001 St. Mark St., starting at 6:30 p.m.

 The Garden Grove Community Foundation will be kicking off its 15-year anniversary at the first free summer concert on Thursday, July 11, at Eastgate Park, at 12001 St. Mark St., starting at 6:30 p.m.

High-energy cover band “Sandbox,” also known as DSB, will be playing 1980s music to today’s hits. A total of six concerts will be held at Eastgate Park every Thursday through Aug. 15.

The first concert also celebrates July as Parks and Recreation Month. The community is invited to come out and celebrate with free activities including, carnival games, balloon animals, and three inflatables. Various vendors will be selling food, beverages, and dessert. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m.

For the safety and enjoyment of all, no canopies, golf carts or alcohol is permitted in the park.

The 2013 free summer concert series is sponsored by the Garden Grove Community Foundation, city of Garden Grove, Garden Grove Disposal, AT&T and GKN Aerospace.

A list of the 2013 free summer concert series follows:

July 11: Sandbox (1980s to today’s Hits).

July 18: Neil Morrow: (Country Rock).

July 25: Instant Replay (1980s and 1990s).

Aug. 1: The Funky Hippeez (1970s disco).

Aug. 8: The Answer (classic rock).

Aug. 15: Stone Soul (Motown).
